Safety NZ Week 2010 Most Successful Yet
In early September, more than 1,500 organisations, including Government departments, DHBs, businesses, shops, charities, local councils, schools, and clubs teamed up with ACC to promote home safety. The campaign did not include any traditional paid advertising on TV or radio, but was centred on gaining unpaid media attention and partnering with organisations to distribute the Safety NZ Week messages.
Printed material such as posters and leaflets were available at more than 3000 different locations across New Zealand. Over 200 schools participated with more than 16,000 children completing activities and taking safety tips home. Media coverage during the week was extensive and included television segments on Breakfast, Close-up, Te Karere and TV3 news, as well as national and regional newspapers, radio, magazines and online coverage on the internet.
